K&M Engineering are a precision engineering company based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. We have a long and established reputation for providing high quality CNC machining services and are ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Originally established in 1986, the company was incorporated from a partnership into a limited company in 2011.

Our in-house facilities are ideal for prototypes through to larger production runs. Manufacturing on a subcontract basis, we supply clients throughout the UK and abroad in many industry sectors. Examples include aerospace, medical, scientific, pharmaceutical, electronic and automotive.

CNC Milling

Our programming engineers are highly proficient in working with CAD/CAM technology, manufacturing a wide range of components, from highly complex to simple parts.

CNC Turning

Our turning facility can produce components in various materials (please see list below), from 1mm to 250mm in diameter. We can also machine up to 350mm between centres.

 
 

Manual Machining

We will always offer the most appropriate and cost effective machining option. Our machine shop has a selection of manual machines, that can be ideal for the manufacture of one offs or small batch runs.

Our engineers are more than happy to offer their professional advice on new projects, from prototype design through to production.

Materials

We can manufacture using a wide range of materials. Some common examples of metals we machine are listed below:

  • Stainless Steels (e.g. 303, 304, 316 grade)

  • Aluminium (e.g. 6082/HE30, 6061, 6063, 5083 grade)

  • Brass (e.g. CZ121/CW614N grade)

  • Copper (e.g. C101 grade)

  • Bronze (e.g. CA104 grade)

  • Titanium

  • Cast Iron

We also specialise in machining plastics, including Acetal, Delrin, HDPE, Nylatron, Nylon, PE1000, Peek, PTFE, PVC, SRBF, and Tufnol®.

Finishing

We can provide a range of surface treatments *. Examples of which are listed below:

  • Anodising (e.g. natural/clear anodise, coloured anodise, hard anodise)

  • Electroless nickel plating

  • Passivation

  • Chromate conversion (e.g. Alocrom 1000 and Alocrom 1200)

  • Heat treatment

* These are not an in-house process.

Delivery Service

Customers are welcome to drop off/collect, alternatively we can ship orders using our next day carriage service.
